FRIDAY was my mother Nora Regan’s funeral.
I was overwhelmed that people from all over the country had made the effort to be there in a heart-warming show of respect for her achievements.
People came from far and wide to honour the former district and county councillor and these included Stroud’s former MP Roger Knapman, who travelled up from Cornwall, David Fields from Devon and Colin Audrit from Worcester to name a few.
A tribute was read by John Pycroft.
Representatives from Marling and Stroud Girls High School joined the congregation to honour the woman who saved their schools.
This cross party tribute included members from all parties who were brought together in the belief of educational choice for our children.
There are no thanks in politics at the time, however today these mourners join together to remember a truly remarkable woman who fought for her beliefs against all odds.
I thank you all for coming.
