Our Town
COME to Stroud Oh come to Stroud do,
A lovely town with lots to view.
A bus station that will definitely make you laugh,
And an automated Post Office to save on staff?
There’s one green grocer and a butcher as well,
And two discount stores with plenty to sell.
There’s shops for the youngsters and shops if you’re skint,
But to buy frozen foods, well that’s quite a sprint.
There’s eight charity shops for that bargain find,
And even a library to improve the mind.
Plenty of shops for that must have phone,
And two or three banks if you need a loan.
There’s shops in the town to keep you well,
And a fair few estate agents with property to sell.
A farmers’ market once a week,
And when the shopping’s done, and refreshment you seek,
There’s twenty five cafés to make you stay longer,
Or a selection of pubs if you’d like something stronger.
But if it’s home sweet home you’ll just wend your way,
Then Stroud is anything but short of a takeaway.
