ON MP Neil Carmichael’s decision to vote in favour of repealing the ban on fox hunting.

Posted by jamg3916: How can fox hunting ever be acceptable in this day and age....ripping an animal apart whilst it’s still alive.....what kind of human being must you be to get enjoyment from that.

Posted by Crow:We’re going to have a referendum in a couple of years - why not sling this issue on the ballot papers as well?

See whether people would really support hounding what is basically a type of dog across the country, only to be ripped to pieces.

Posted by floydsheep: Repulsive. I hope everyone who in this constituency writes to this man and demands he votes to keep the ban.

Posted by Kevyla: How can anyone with any compassion be in favour of this horrendous activity?

Posted by Cuthbert Thickett: Neil says “There is no divine right here of one group to have their views imposed on another. That’s why we are in a democracy” We had a vote, foxhunting lost, so he supports another vote. What happens when that one is lost, do we have another and another?

Posted by NDJMILLER: Well here’s the thing Mr Carmichael. One group has not, as you put it, “imposed their views” on you. We already had a free vote on the subject in 2004 and you lost - democratically. Deal with it.

Posted by Paul Bull: His point is a very good one - when there is such a large group in favour of foxhunting it is wrong for the state to moralise on foxhunting. Foxhunting is enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of ordinary, decent, people (anti’s assumptions about who hunts and their motivation are misleading, and shameful attempts at smear) who should be free to hunt if they and the farmers and landowners whose land they must cross.

Given it is fundamental to many of these peoples way of life that is quite legitimate.
