AS THE originator of this debate on the subject of the potential dangers of the radiation emitted by mobile phones, wi-fi etc, Gabriel Millar’s letter of July 1, sums up the situation perfectly.
It is not for nothing that France and Germany have restricted their young population’s exposure to wi-fi, and the latter have recommended that cable connection in the home is the safest option for internet connection.
It also seems quite wrong that the public have no choice but to be exposed more and more to this particular radiation in public places such as hotels, trains, motorway and service stations etc.
I agree with Gabriel that long-term monitoring and testing are the only way to ascertain the extent of the dangers, and in the meantime, we should all be cautious, and particularly with wi-fi, if people wish to use it, switch it off when not in use.
