Posted by Pauline Feltham: Happy retirement, remembering my three, Sarah, Mark and Nicola Feltham, all grown up now. Fond memories.

On the report about a second cow being killed by traffic on Minchinhampton Common.

Posted by Joe Stroud: There is just too much traffic using the common now - it was different 20 years ago. Do the owners of the cattle really feel free grazing is a good trade off for so many being killed and injured just for the sake of the quaintness of the tradition? Only a few seem to have the new reflective collars on..and bizarrely they aren’t the small dark cows which always get hit. Too much traffic to be compatible with 400-500 cattle, and the common isn’t a nice place to walk or picnic when they’ve all deposited their best on it for months.

Posted by JWLea: They are not protected enough. They should have more reflections on them or restrict where they go. The common needs to be grazed that’s why they’re there but unfortunately motorists will not drive slowly enough to keep them safe.
