ON Stroud District Council’s decision add an extra 200 homes to the draft Local Plan.

Posted by Phyllus Jones: Say a further goodbye to the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside! To someone who lived in Cashes Green in the years immediately following WWII, the Stroud area is barely recognizable. And someone from 1900 would have certainly said the same thing in regard to Stroud in 1950. I refer to what is going on as ‘population pollution’ - a non-politically correct name for a worldwide problem. And where does it all end? Think about it. It ends with the whole world being almost total asphalt and concrete. But at that point humans will be on their way out on the Earth. With humans gone, the the Earth will have a chance to recover. It will slowly again become green, and the Stroud valley will once again become beautiful. ‘Population pollution’ will resolve itself!

But you don’t have to do much head scratching to arrive at the answer, which is that council bosses think they’ve got one over residents and its smart to screw a bit more out of the taxpayer by pulling the wool over their eyes by making them pay again to take care of certain types of waste. Can the council get back to doing what it knows and used to do best which is providing cost effective facilities (which are all ready paid for) to take care of the town’s rubbish. This extra work clearing up dumped waste is only going to get worse when those items described in the article are added to with garden waste.
