ON Ecotricity’s plans for a new nature reserve as part of the £100 million Eco Park development near Eastington.

Posted by a-bomberg: All is not what it seams here is it. The propose nature reserve area is already an Industrial Heritage Conservation Area according to SDC and part of the flood plain so could not be build upon in any case I would expect. This is NOT a gift or “off setting”, its a attempt at good PR.

Posted by taylorpen: Well, whoopeey do.The plan is to cover god knows how many green fields in a hard surface and we are supposed to be chuffed with this crumb. Sorry, not happening.

Posted by rockness rebel: Let’s harness the positives during the consultation phase –- if the development goes ahead, it can bring many improvements to the area. The new M5 services encountered much opposition but have won considerable respect for the benefits they now offer.

Posted by a-bomberg: Rockness rebel... Feel free to highlight the positives to the people that could be living next to or near to a 5-10k seat football stadium... this is not a service station. This is a development hiding behind a very thin green veil. The people of Eastington and associated hamlets want many things but not at any cost... this is a rural community. The 2011 census showed 18 people unemployed in Eastington parish so we have no need for 4,000 jobs bringing with it more traffic, more light, more noise and the need for yet more housing to be built. Eastington is NOT going to take one for the team, and by that I mean district. If Dale Vince wants to leave a green/eco legacy then he should save these fields for future generations not build on them. Once these fields are gone, then what?
