THE year is 1981, February, 34 years ago!

The Red Arrows were then based at RAF Kemble near Stroud, Gloucestershire.

I made arrangements for the 1st Stonehouse Boys’ Brigade Company, (membership was over 30 boys), to visit the Red Arrows and to present a commemorative plaque recording the boys’ esteem and thanks and individual tie pins to them, following visits and interchange with the Squadron.

(Unfortunately the 1st Stonehouse Company the Boys’ Brigade ceased to exist later on.) The photograph shows the presentation being made by the then Cpl Nigel Prescott whilst other members look on to Red Arrows Team Leader Sqn Ldr: Brian R Hoskins (himself an ex BB boy).

All the 1981 Red Arrows are there: (2) Flt Lt BF Walters, (3) Flt Lt W Ward, (4) Flt Lt MH Courcier, (5) Flt Lt NJ Wharton, (6) Sqn Ldr SR Johnson, (7) Flt Lt TR Watts, (8) Flt Lt IJ Huzzard, (9) Flt Lt JR Myers.

The other photograph is of the plaque.
