Neil Carmichael disingenuously ‘forgot’ to address his government’s dangerous partial lifting of the ban on these pesticides, a ban opposed only by the NFU and other vested business interests.
Even if you believe that the evidence against neonicotinoids is equivocal, in environmental matters we have a solemn duty to follow the precautionary principle.
Would he fly in an aircraft if half or three-quarters of engineers deemed it unsafe?
Our MP writes at length about the importance of pollination, he must know that these insecticides may be responsible for killing off whole populations of pollinators.
We should recall the old adage – we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our descendants.
