I AM wondering why Neil Carmichael expects the taxpayer to foot the bill for vandalism at his constituency office (Stroud News & Journal, October 14).

It never crossed my mind to ask the taxpayer for help when my car was vandalised.

The incident also begs a more important question: who are the real vandals?

Are they Neil Carmichael’s party who are vandalising our welfare state, and taking the country back to levels of poverty not seen since the 1930s?

Or are they those who want to draw the public’s attention to this?
