CAN I just thank you for giving coverage to our last Saturday’s Peace Vigil against the bombing of Syria.

This will now be a weekly event in Stroud High Street between 12pm and 12.30pm on Saturdays including Boxing Day.

Although more photos of the event were online, I just thought that your printed version of the SNJ, I would have preferred the picture of the two older woman, Kate Fedden, 83, and Margaret Cox, 86, rather than that chap Marjoram flying the International Peace Flag.

For it would show that older people do care about our future.

Finally, I will take issue with Neil Carmichael, when he said bombing Isis was the ‘last resort’.

Sorry Neil, that was your first and only resort.

From 1914 to 2014 this country has not been at war, somewhere around the world, for just two of those years.

It really says it all, we still have delusions around our past Imperial power and still wanting to play with the big boys.

However only when we realise that we are no longer a superpower but a fairly normal country in Europe, will feel comfortable with ourselves as a nation.

In peace, John Marjoram Stroud
