SO THE Grange Fields campaigners have won! Well done.
Sadly we around the Pike Meadow (Save Nailsworth Valley Campaign) also won.
However, the developers don’t go away.
They appealed and the planning inspector has reversed the council’s decision and approved the application (SNJ December 23).
My letter, dated December 18, to Mark Rees (Stroud District Council) has received a prompt response to the effect that ‘we are disappointed with the decision and will be considering if there are grounds to challenge the decision’.
It is early days but my letters to Neil Carmichael and the planning inspector have yet to be acknowledged.
I believe that whatever happens the development profits will override the wishes of the local people, even where the council supports those people.
I sincerely hope I am wrong in the case of those celebrating their victory regarding Grange Fields.
