BOXING Day 2015 – awful day, raining all the time, suppose I should not complain.
Thinking of better times years ago and the lovely old songs we sang.
The new year wish then was as follows.
I wish you a happy new year
A pocket full of money
and a cellar full of beer
Two fat pigs in the sty
To last you all the year
May God send you all
A ‘happy new year’
The roads are very dirty
And my shoes are very thin
But I’ve got a little pocket
I can put a penny in
If you haven’t got a penny
Then a half-penny will do
If you haven’t got a half-penny
THEN GOLD BLESS YOU
