ON Stroud District Council’s decision to approve plans for a new town of 1,350 homes west of Stonehouse.

Posted by Phyllus Jones: More of the gorgeous English countryside about to disappear due to population pollution.

Posted by bertos: Not sure why they can’t reclaim the land at Javelin Park and build houses there rather than digging up some perfectly good green fields.

On the approval of plans for more than 100 homes on land at Wimberley Mills off Knapp Lane on the banks of the River Frome in Brimscombe.

It does seem an interesting location for new build - let’s assume that the developers put in all the recommendations for flood mitigation that the document proposes.

On Stroud Town Council’s decision to object to planning applications to make alterations to the exteriors of two buildings used by Ecotricity in Stroud.

Posted by cinimodssegrub: The right decision. Ecotricity has brought lots of jobs to the area, and is in many ways very good for Stroud. But these designs do not reflect or respect the beauty and history of the town. Good decision STC.

Cities are full of these kind of horrible buildings, they look all modern and ‘funky’ in the architect drawings but in reality, when built, they look awful! I have no opinion of Dale Vince, and don’t think it would be relevant to give one even if I did. I agree that Stroud is in desperate need of some rejuvenation, but don’t just slap up these ‘child play centres’. Take a leaf out of Cirencester’s book and do it properly, in a classic style that has stood the test of time for centuries.
