Posted by GWS Observer: With diminishing resources it is difficult to contend that Gloucestershire should remain a small county force, it is not resilient or sustainable in the longer term. There is a compelling case for a south west merger to share resources, crime intelligence, expertise and back office services. It is difficult to see how the PCC (or the chief constable) can resist or make a sensible business case to do otherwise. And whether Cotswold District Council should, or should not, combine administratively with West Oxfordshire District Council as a unitary authority should have no bearing on it.
