ON the news that more than £20 million was spent on road maintenance in Gloucestershire last year, including the repair of more than 55,000 potholes.

Posted by Mad in Stroud: What do we know of the skills of the contractors who year after year make a living repairing potholes that were supposedly repaired the previous year?

This is a question that ought to be asked by those signing the cheques for these reparations.

Also, this afternoon, there was a crew at the top end of Slad Valley burning off white lines in the middle of the road and repainting them. There may be some slight wear to a few of the white lines but the pot-holes are a much more serious problem, as drivers, including myself, swerve out from the lane they are in to avoid the potholes and potential damage to their vehicles. Resources need to be applied with intelligence!

On the story about the badly parked Mini which was parked across a road and on the kerb in Stroud and led to a taxi venting his anger on social media.

Posted by Mister Champagne: At first it seems so ridiculous that it’s funny. But then comes the realisation that the driver is clearly incapable of logical thought any longer and should NOT be allowed to drive a vehicle. I hope the taxi driver took her car number plate and reports her to the DVLA as she practically blocked the only road to the town station and for quite some time.

Posted by Stroud12: And not a traffic warden in sight I bet. To be honest with the lack of disabled parking in favour of taxi ranks in the town centre I’m not surprised. There are no spaces for anyone who needs to just pop in to town for 30 minutes to park.

Posted by Andyinstroud: The few disabled parking spaces that there are are frequently taken by able bodied with no blue badge. The same happens in supermarket car parks. The selfishness beggars belief.
