PLEASE save us from the likes of Francis Ray, who would clearly have us all breathing in toxins and helping to subsidise dirty forms of energy production.

In response to Mr Ray of Stroud’s letter – 'Please save us from the R4C proposal' – printed on March 16. I can’t believe anyone would be so dismissive of the genuinely good alternative to the Javelin Park incinerator project that the R4C is. It is an amazing opportunity to do things differently and use our refuse as a resource!

Call it idealistic if you like but just burying or burning our rubbish are not long-term environmentally-friendly solutions to our waste management issues.

Anyone who has taken a trip to the local tip in Gloucester will know that there is only so long we can continue to hide all our mess under the carpet as it were.

Burning it in an incinerator only means we’re hiding it in another less visible form, for us all to breathe in.

With no means of opting out from breathing it in, other than to move elsewhere or wear face-masks 24/7.

We should be embracing the forward-thinking solution being offered here.

It won’t be polluting ours and our children’s airways or adding to the mass of gasses we have irresponsibly been releasing into the atmosphere for far too long.

I for one am seriously impressed by the R4C proposal and want to see it to go ahead as soon as possible.

The stalling that is going on, because a short-sighted and polluting solution was chosen, is in my mind criminal.

It’s time to chuck those old ways out and get on with building a better future for all of us.

Big love to the R4C proposal and the team of dedicated hard working people behind it.

So yes by all meansGet the picks and shovels out and start building R4C today.
