THIS is a photo of my first April Severn bore of 2016.
I spent the early part of Saturday morning at the Noose in Fretherne.
Racing ahead of the bore I got to St Peters Church, Upper Framilode, to watch the river action. There were plenty of surfers as the wave stood up due to the narrowing of the river.
I caught a lot of movement in the sky as well from the usual parasailers.
I also saw a lot of gull and wild duck action, disturbed by the incoming tide and the famous surfers sweeping past The Strand at Westbury-on-Severn.
In the background the land rises, creating the familiar views of the Forest of Dean with Cinderford on the escarpment ridge.
I cannot stay away from watching or photographing the wonderful Severn bore.
Indeed just to go down to the river to stand on the bank in the late evening, in the dark, listening to and experiencing the bore travelling upstream towards and past me is truly magical.
