STROUD cut off again!

Paganhill Lane was closed to all traffic from its junction with Cainscross Roundabout for several weeks.

On Friday, April 8, it took me 48 minutes to necessarily drive from Stonehouse to Stroud (Beeches Green).

On an earlier occasion it was 53 minutes.

Returning via Paganhill Lane along the side that is, (or was), open and driving within all speed limits it took nine-and-a-half minutes to return to Stonehouse!

Into Stroud via Cainscross Road is beyond belief. Alternatively via Dudbridge Hill and Golden Cross is also ridiculous with vehicles jammed turning at the traffic lights.

The sole reason for this grim situation is the Merrywalks junction where it’s every man/woman for themselves.

Obviously, therefore it never enters the ‘Brainless Boxes’ of the appropriate authorities to install temporary traffic control lights at the Merrywalks junction thus enabling the traffic from each approach a proper chance to negotiate the ‘bottleneck’, to keep traffic flowing and to mitigate driver frustration. I almost wrote ‘Police on Point Duty’ but I very much doubt if they would have a clue what to do these days! – especially vacating the comfort of their patrol cars!
