SINCE my niece was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I realise how much this affects her life and how important the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation charity is to funding research to cure, treat and prevent type 1, so this year I am trying to raise £2,000.

I would like to thank everyone who supported the zumba evening and a special thank you to Alison Harding, who instructed us through the dance routines and made it such an enjoyable evening raising £575.

I am also extremely grateful to all our family, friends and work colleagues who sponsored both Penny Waters and myself on our walk from the Four Clocks in Stroud to Big Ben in London raising £1,300.

We were encouraged every step of the way with all the good good wishes and messages and arrived to hear the clock chime 12, an emotional end to our journey, mission completed and a dream fulfilled.
