ON the plans for an Aldi on the site of Stroud Auctions on the Bath Road Trading Estate in Dudbridge.

Posted by DanBob: An Aldi (or Lidl) would be great but how is traffic expected to get out of the industrial estate? It’s already often difficult to turn right so I can see queues building up trying to get out. There are also frequent accidents at the nearby Dudbridge Road junction and unless major changes to the road layout are included then I can just see traffic problems getting worse. I’m also concerned for those established businesses on the industrial estate who it sounds like haven’t been consulted (or fully considered).

On the National Trust’s meeting to discuss how to prevent cows being killed on the commons.

Posted by Crow: Just a quick Google shows two breeds of cow which are light coloured. British white, and white park...given than a lot of cows are killed at night, a light coloured cow might prevent some of these deaths, and risk to drivers.

Posted by jane alexander: Dark cattle killed at night, now light coloured cattle killed in daylight. They can’t win can they. Always some excuse. The fact is drivers, and they’re mostly local, are far too complacent, careless and too fast. Unlike horses, cattle don’t suddenly cross the road on a whim, they saunter or amble, especially the pregnant ones. Collisions are entirely the driver’s fault.

On MP Neil Carmichael’s argument in favour of Britain remaining in the EU.

Posted by Phyllus Jones: This is effectively the last chance we shall get to return the UK to be a self-governing country from the present EU province (or state or part). The massive immigration from the rest of the EU in coming years if we vote to Remain will simply make it impossible to leave the EU at some future time. This is our last chance to re-establish the UK as a country rather than continue as a part of what effectively is a new EU country.
