On the EU referendum.

Posted by bettysenior: Those who want to stay in the EU cite that the EU was one of the main reasons why the Paris Agreement on Climate Change was made but the real truth is that the EU has no real effect on what will actually happen, as the Agreement is not legally binding due to economic vested-interests of the major powers. If you don’t believe me, just ask the USA who wants to join with the EU in creating the corporate-driven TTIP for big business that will increase carbon emissions to higher and higher levels. Therefore the clear dichotomy is that the EU signs up to a document but where because the Paris Agreement is not legally binding, the US and EU corporations will be allowed to do as they want. So don’t think for one minute that climate change reduction targets will be achieved through the EU as if you do, you are deluding yourself. Just wait and see if you do not believe me.

On the concerns about the safety of the pedestrian crossing at Waitrose in Stroud.

Posted by commonmatilda: I think we used to call it the Green Cross Code. And even as very young children we understood it and were able to apply it. It probably also helped us to understand that if we go through life believing we are the centre of the universe and that everything will stop for us we may well end up under a bus.

Posted by TigerTigerBurningBright: Why do you think that pedestrians should be bullied off the crossings by car drivers? The Highway Code is clear, as soon as a pedestrian puts a foot on a zebra crossing, the cars must stop. They should already have slowed down if there are pedestrians near a crossing. What the professor relates is terrible driving, and all drivers should reread the Highway Code, or get some more lessons.

Posted by SensibleStroudy: I can’t help but think this could have been dealt with via a letter to Waitrose asking for a couple of signs to be installed.
