I REFER to the article (SNJ, June 29, 2016, page 3), regarding the car parking at the Beeches Green Surgery/Complex and MP Neil Carmichael’s attempt to overturn the parking arrangements.

I visit there usually now twice a month for medical appointments, as does my wife and have done so overall for 40 years.

In the more recent years trying to park a car there was, at times, next to impossible.

On a number of occasions I, (and I am sure other people), have missed appointment times as a result of waiting and trying to park.

I have often seen the car park misused by, no doubt, “financially retarded” people who then walked off into the town.

The new parking restrictions, with which I do not have the slightest trouble, never have, are absolutely essential.

If I can understand them, so can anyone else!

In fact, these parking restrictions should have been implemented years ago.
So (20) people have protested, the report states!

The signs are clear enough, provided English is understood.

Also, the touch screens are quite clear, if a little sensitive.

People therefore who have difficulty with these can engage the assistance of a very helpful staff!

Where people are being chauffeured, then surely their driver could and should take account of the regulations and respond appropriately including, where required, entering the vehicle’s registration number via the touch screens.

Of course, the amount of the fines is quite another matter entirely.

Finally, where the parking meter has been out of order, then all fines during that period should be cancelled.

It is the responsibility of Parking Eye to ensure the machine is constantly in working order.

Further, it’s not everybody who can manage to pay by phone including the trail that creates. Also, it’s likely that many wouldn’t know an App from an apple!
