AS CHAIRMAN of the trustees of the Stroud Valleys Project charity, I am writing in response to the concerns which have been expressed about the land which the charity owns at Arundel Mill, which includes the former mill pond and sluice gate on the River Frome (mill pond story in the SNJ of Wednesday, June 29).
Clare Mahdiyone, chief executive of the charity, has explained the situation but I wish to reassure local residents and visitors to the area that we are working on a management plan for the site.
This will enable us to seek funding to secure the future of the area.
We will be looking at a number of options to ensure that the land is maintained for the benefit of wildlife, having regard to the limited resources of the charity and to the requirements of the covenant imposed when the land was gifted by the former owner.
