WE would like to say thank you to the highly successful children’s author, Julia Donaldson, who kindly put on two sell-out shows at Lansdown Hall, based on her creation, The Gruffalo.
Money raised from the event enabled Lansdown Hall to buy and install an electronic window blind.
This now enables Lansdown Hall’s beautiful rose window to be exposed to view as often as possible, yet easily obscured. The blind, which is over three metres square, is easily operated by remote control, removing the need for the fixed curtain which was in use previously, and which could only be accessed using high ladders. Such a large electronically operated blind was an expensive purchase for the small charity that runs Lansdown Hall and Gallery and we are extremely grateful to Ms Donaldson and her sister, Mary Moore, a local resident, for their generosity.
