I AM tired of hearing appeals for a ‘strong leader’ of the Labour Party.

Napoleon, Thatcher and Blair were all seen as strong, and all led wars.

Churchill is credited with winning the Second World War but at the end of it the population voted against his promise of a return to pre-war privilege and privation.

Instead we chose Atlee, not noted for his charisma, but who offered a new vision of full employment, homes for all, equality and a welfare state.

Now we have the chance to vote for a return to his vision with Jeremy Corbyn.

No wonder those who enjoy the privileges of our now deeply divided and unequal society are determined to make us hate him.
