MAYBE the correspondents unfairly criticising those campaigning to keep Stroud General Hospital’s 24-hour services open have never been in a life and death situation, saved by their essential medical care?

My daughter is asthmatic, quite frequently over the years growing up in Stroud she has had attacks in the early hours of the morning.

Unable to breath, we drive her her straight to Stroud Hospital, only five minutes away.

Immediately on arrival the magnificent nursing staff gives her emergency treatment on a defibrillator then calls in a doctor to give her life-saving steroids, enabling her to breath freely again.

Basically saving her life!

So please think carefully before endorsing yet another cut to our precious and invaluable NHS – a life saving service – it could save the life of someone dear to you or even your own!

I would encourage everyone to sign the petition, so please could the Stroud News & Journal let its readers know where we can do this.
