I HAVE been gathering evidence for a long time and I have come to the conclusion that we need a new government with a fresh vision.

I will list as succinctly as possible why I think that is.

1. Brexit – the level of misinformation given to the electorate was irresponsible thereby not serving the basic tenets of what democracy is meant to represent.

Further to that, a close friend with a German wife who has lived and worked in this country for over 35 years has received no reassurances from their local conservative MP, Michael Fabricant, that Petra’s (his wife) home is secured here.

This strikes me as so ridiculous it is laughable if it were not for the fear and unnecessary insecurity it has caused in my friends; something which is probably reflected in many others across the country.

2. The financial institutions which run the economy both national and international really need to undergo a radical overhaul to ensure that the focus of businesses and banks becomes one which is about planetary and people well-being – to put this off any longer is no longer acceptable; just as to not recognise this as necessity is irresponsible and retrograde.

3. This government’s environmental policy does not cut the mustard.

Furthermore, I venture to suggest that it amounts to gross mismanagement bordering on criminal insanity.

Fracking exemplifies this in that it forsakes all well-being for short-term gain no matter for the evidence across the globe for the invasive and destructive effects it has.

To continue to manage our waste situation with business as usual is demonstrable of the proverbial ostrich sticking its head you know where.

To use the education system as a means of perpetuating this better than/lesser than status quo where no green ideology has room to flourish fully is negligent and harmful to the generations that will follow.

Underpinning all of this, is the blatant ignoring of the Guru our age and current society has placed so much store by – which is science.

Science reveals more and more how our current practices are destructive and damaging.

It also tells us that these practices exert global effects; have global ramifications.

Here science meets the wisdom of our ancestors and the clarity of spirit – in Martin Luther King’s words: “We are all caught up in a single garment of destiny: what affects one, affects all; injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

I know these are not problems to be solved overnight but they do need an honest and clear acknowledgement.

They do need acts of collective cooperation and intent and an encouragement towards togetherness rather than the promotion of schisms and inflammatory divisions resulting in fear and conflict.

They do need a maturity of focus that has moved beyond ego-driven motives and has the ability to see the larger picture.

Given this evidence, with the best will in the world for her efforts, I do not think Theresa May has the capacity to bring through the fresh vision which is needed.

I am therefore issuing a vote of no confidence in this government and calling for an early General Election in spring/summer of next year.

I believe Jeremy Corbyn has the maturity to bring forward a new politics of the heart.

It’s what we need; it’s what the Earth needs from us and it’s what younger generations need now rather than ten years down the line.
