I AM researching the history of the Stroud/Chalford/Brimscombe railway stations, with a particular interest in the years of the Chalford “railcar”, which provided a well-remembered train service here for 60 years until its closure in 1964.
I would love to hear from anyone who worked on Stroud station in the days of steam, who fired or drove one of the Brimscombe banking engines, and anyone who worked in any capacity with the Chalford railcar.
I’d then be keen to do a visit and conduct an interview.
Further, I am keen to trace surviving family of Nat Ollerenshaw, the last station master at Chalford.
Anyone who can assist should contact me on 01432 851192 or email me at fen.lonesomedove0@gmail.com. Alternately write to me at the address below.
