I WOULD like to draw readers’ attention to the withdrawal of the 28 bus service to Amberley.

There is now no longer a public transport connection from Amberley to Stroud hospital or doctors surgery in Minchinhampton.

Non-drivers like us depend on an Amberley bus for all our shopping in Stroud and Nailsworth, including the chemist for prescriptions, dental appointments, photocopying etc, and general recreation.

The loss of the service means a taxi back from town every time we shop or have a day out, at a considerable extra weekly cost.

Staff at the Bear at Rodborough (Houndscroft) used to use the 28 every day, and many other fellow passengers will sorely miss it’s loss.

Cotswold Green, who know the needs of their passengers very well, proposed at least one bus a day via The Bear at Rodborough, but the franchise went to Stagecoach who have not included Amberley in their new timetables.
