PLEASE may I respond to A Bradley’s letter about it being time to accept Brexit.

I disagree that we should shut up.

If this were 1616 not 2016 we’d be at civil war because the resolve of the individuals in the Remain camp is far greater than the resolve in the Brexit camp in my experience (and I know who’d win, given the average age profile of the Brexit voter!).

The bottom line is this, you don’t just give up on something when you believe it to be right, so Remain won’t shut up because the referendum was not a trivial matter unlike say, winning or losing a football match (sorry footballers).

This issue will go on for years.

To add to this, the Leave camp leaders have no firm plan on what to do next.

It might be different if they knew what they were doing and weren’t running blind, but as it stands leaving the EU would limit my freedom in Europe, put British people abroad in great insecurity for their future (often with their foreign families), further increase costs in the UK (started be devaluing pound already), limit my children’s ability to work in other countries in future, contribute to weakening the EU as a balancing force in international negotiations (eg one voice at UN climate negotiations), further reduce equality in the world and cause unnecessary red tape/bureaucracy work for all of us.

Why would I shut up and just take that?

It is not that I’m not moved by the strong argument to “Regain Control”. Actually I think regaining control is a good idea and we should regain control of our money and our countries utilities, not blame foreigners as a scapegoat for the inadequacies that result from having huge inequality within our own country.

I suggest we all vote for a progressive party next election and don’t be swung by tabloid headlines.

We are a rich country.

Inequality is the root problem, not the foreigners.
