HAVING been a resident of Oakridge Lynch for over 50 years, I feel qualified in condemning most strongly the Stroud District Planning Committee for the appalling decision to allow the development of Sommerfield site in the Broadway.

I fully understand that new houses are required, but this has to be seen to be believed.

The site previously having a single dwelling has now been turned into a complex of three buildings resembling industrial units, squeezed on to a site only suitable for two houses.

My sympathy goes to the four close residents, having, I understand, had assurances from the developer regarding heights, size etc, who find their outlook and daylight restricted and properties devalued.

The planning committee should make a visit to site to view what they approved, as it makes one question the reason why permission was granted.
