THIS is the Epic Sad Tale of Lappy The Lamp Post resident in situ at the front of my Hacienda!

He was “snuffed out” several months ago, a lonely unlit figure amongst his distant bright fellows, leaving our surroundings exactly like a World War 2 blackout!

I telephoned Gloucestershire County Council Highways Dept.

A glamorous sounding ‘a la femme’ connected me to “Street Lighting” wherein a toothy sounding gent listened to my aged concerns. He said that it would be dealt with and issued to me a reference number.

That evening Lappy Lamp Post illuminated at 7pm and extinguished at 7.30pm.

The following day I telephoned again suffering the same procedure but with a new reference number.

Lappy Lamp Post illuminated at 7.15pm. and extinguished at 7.45pm!

I then contacted our County Councillor who promptly took up the matter.

The following day a “Techie” rolled up in a large van and with the aid of a “lift” ascended Lappy Lamp Post.

“Techie” changed the bulb and a piece of equipment that resembled a timer for a bomb!

Lappy Lamp Post was illuminated – mid afternoon.

I pointed this out to “Techie” who gave the classic shrug of his shoulders saying – “It’ll go orfe”!

Lappy Lamp Post remained illuminated through 24 hours and as I write this, it still is 180 continuous hours later!

Obviously I have contacted our County Councillor again.

She’s doing her best….

We all still live in hope. Wasted costs? There’s something very inadequate at the intelligence level with GCC and the Highways Dept as we all observe every day.

Does anyone think that I, (and my neighbours), should deduct £20 per month from the Council Tax Bill in recompense.

Or, would I find myself in a so called “Court of Justice” as a “Norty Old Boy”?
