AFTER meeting cows on one of the sharp bends below Amberley, it occurred to us that we should try to warn the drivers coming up the hill towards us.
But what is the appropriate signal for “there are a couple of heedless cows lurking behind the blind corner just ahead of you, so do be careful”?
Flashing one’s headlights might mean anything, and by the time they’d worked it out it would be too late. We wondered whether a finger and thumb in the shape of a C might make a suitable agreed signal, for locals anyway.
