IN REPLY to Dean Turner’s letter regarding boundary changes.
The Boundary Commission is an independent body with one mandate:, to ensure there is fair representation and that that all constituencies have an equal number of potential voters.
The figure being between 70,000 and 75,000. The Parliament constituencies have no connection with county or district boundaries and the elected member is independent of local issues while still being aware of them.
It may have escaped Mr Turner’s notice for instance that Wotton-under-Edge is in the Cotswold constituency, not the Stroud one.
