IN HIS letter (SNJ, October 5), Lee Prescott replies to my earlier letter describing it as “sad”.

I don’t know what he means by that as with a lot of other things he says he doesn’t back it up with any evidence.

He also accuses me of saying that Teresa May was elected by “200 cronies” whereas I didn’t even mention the word and goes on to say I “conveniently overlooked the handover from Tony Blair to Gordon Brown”.

I didn’t overlook anything, but I am more concerned with the here and now.

I presume that Lee has spent a long time living in North Korea and China as he is able to recommend them to me, but I have no idea what living in a Communist one-party state has to do with democracy.

Lee, with all the other people who voted to leave the EU, but seem mostly too embarrassed to say why, should remember there are 65 million people in this country, all who have an opinion, and their future has been decided by just under 17.5 million.

We have Teresa May telling the party faithful that she will negotiate the best deal for all the British people even though 47.5 million of them don’t want her to do anything of the sort.

We have already seen many down sides of leaving the EU even though the formal process hasn’t even started.

Perhaps Mr Prescott could tell us all about the upsides; not what he thinks they will be but what he knows they will be based on those hard facts he based his decision on when he voted.

It seems to have been forgotten that this referendum wasn’t called for the benefit of the British public, but to try and save David Cameron’s skin and the Tory party from losing more of their support to UKIP.

The only people who have seen any benefit are those who got “honours” when David Cameron did his disappearing trick.
