IN SEPTEMBER, this page kindly ran an appeal for me in connection with local railway history research.
This was very successful, as I was contacted by several former railway employees who have proved most helpful with memories and photographs.
This has brought to the fore several names of former staff whose surviving families I would now like to trace.
If there is anyone out there related to any of the following, I would be delighted to hear from you.
Fred Furley, guard on the Chalford railcar
Chris Grange, railcar driver
Wally Green, banker and railcar driver
Vera Damsell, porter at Chalford
Vic Sneed, railcar fireman
Harold Gubbins, railcar driver, retired 1944
William Pritchard, stationmaster at Chalford
Mr Woodyatt, stationmaster at Brimscombe
I would also like to hear from family of Sidney Knight, who wrote a lovely poem about the local railways in the BR Magazine in 1954.
I can be contacted on 01432 851192 or on e-mail fen.lonesomedove9@gmail.com.
