I, LIKE most other people, am keen to do my bit and recycle whenever possible but I do think more should be done to ensure that manufacturers reduce the amount of packaging at source.

With Christmas coming up it will be more difficult to dispose of the senseless packaging that surrounds our toys, perfume, gift sets etc.

Even though we have our bins for recycling, the amount of rubbish is the same, it is just put in different containers.

What really annoyed me was when I went into Tesco, Stroud, on Monday and noticed that their free Gift Catalogues were all individually wrapped in plastic!

There must be thousands of them throughout all branches of Tesco and they were placed at the front of the store in large containers for people to pick up. Each one wrapped in clear plastic.

I would like a response from Tesco to justify this, when they are trying to reduce plastic carrier bags on one hand and wrapping a free catalogue on the other.
