A HEALTH care assistant who is employed at SGH was working a night shift on Sunday, October 30.

She rides a push bike into work each shift and she left her bike locked up in the bike store at the hospital overnight.

When she left work after an 11-hour shift her bike had been stolen.

The nurse had only just finished paying for the bike the week before.

She contacted the police regarding the incident but was told that there was little chance the bike would be retrieved.

In order for her to be able to get to work she had to go out and purchase another bike but was unable to afford the model she had just finished paying for.

I am a friend and fellow colleague of the nursing assistant and I find it appalling that someone could be so cruel to steal a bike from someone who is obviously working overnight in a care facility.

The nursing assistant works long and hard to provide excellent care to patients at SGH and to have this happen to her is very upsetting.
