THIS week, 12 months ago, Stroud District Council’s contractors started the implementation of the ill-conceived downgrading (to one lane) of the canal crossing at Bowbridge.

By mid-January they had removed the more modern and stronger part of this crossing.

By mid-summer they had almost completed the new parapet on the remaining part of the bridge.

Then everything stopped, except that the road side posted completion date kept slipping.

After the September date had come and gone, the completion date has remained blank.

What is happening?

When will the residents and users of this road, who have endured over two years of disruption, see completion?

Will it be a repeat of the situation of the temporary(?) traffic lights that we encounter at Horsley?

Come, Stroud District Council, give us a break and pull your finger out!
