I SINCERELY believe the decision not to allow an Aldi at Bath Road Trading Estate was the correct decision and also the Asda proposal for the Daniels Industrial Estate.

The A46 is so busy and gets jammed up with cars every day from around 4pm.

The amount of traffic that would be going in and out would have held up the rest, creating a long line of traffic stretching back to Stroud and Nailsworth as well as Dudbridge.

From a road safety point of view, residents living on Eros Close and Erin Park would be boxed in and would have to run the gauntlet trying to get in and out.

Even residents in Kitesnest Lane would be jammed in.

If traffic controls were introduced this would cause huge tailbacks.

Industrial estates should remain as they are to support small businesses.

If Aldi/Lidl/Asda want to come to Stroud they need to find better sites preferably out of town.

I would also like to comment on the camera that has caught nearly one million motorists as they enter Stroud from Nailsworth.

As there are never any accidents there what is the big fuss about?

By far the most dangerous part is coming down the A46 from Golden Cross to the junction at the bottom where there are many accidents every year.

The camera would have been better sited opposite the small trading estate just above the old Kites Nest pub.
