IN REPLY to your article on Highborder Lodge on January 18, I would like to say that my wife (who sadly passed away at the home on January 15) resided there for just over a year.
Throughout that time I was very pleased with the care and attention she had and she was very happy there.
I visited her every day for at least two hours.
I found the staff and management very kind and helpful.
When there were staff shortages, agency staff were brought in for support.
I did not consider that safety was ever an issue where my wife was concerned.
During this time, I was asked to give feedback on our experience of the home but although I attended daily, I was not consulted on the day of the inspection.
I wonder, therefore, if my feedback (and that of others who I know are happy with the care provision) was ever considered?
I am surprised and saddened by your article.
I know from the experience of friends in a similar situation that other care homes are also identified as needing improvement – so why has Highborder been singled out?
I would recommend the home to anyone.
