THE contrast between the Tory-controlled county council and the rainbow coalition-led district council couldn’t be clearer.

The former have foisted a huge, dirty incinerator upon us, which, thanks to the efforts of Stroud Green Party in exposing the contract, we now know actively discourages recycling in the area.

The latter is Europe’s first carbon-neutral local authority and has recently doubled the district’s recycling rate from 30 to 60 per cent.

Anyone who cares for our environment should bear this in mind when they go to the ballot box for the county elections in May.
