On Ron Lang’s scathing letter about the new household waste recycling scheme.

Posted by SensibleStroudy: What a riveting but rather long winded way of asking the council to instruct their contractors to treat the food waste bins a bit more carefully. Well done Ron Lang of Minchinhampton!

Posted by Nick_Stanleys: I don’t know if you know about the budget cuts and the amount of your council tax that actually goes on waste disposal, putting and extra few pounds on council tax that actually went to waste disposal and not swallowed up by other services would allow the contractor to have shorter rounds that give the guys time to place the bin back in the right place, unfortunately that will not happen as everybody moans about tax going up and waste costs more and more to dispose of.

MoreSilentMajority: According to SDC the new collection scheme, where we do the work, is working perfectly. It is so perfect that they are thinking of doubling the time between collections to give the waste more time to ferment and add its unique ambiance and aroma to the neighbourhood. SDC will be posting signs to inform rats and other vermin that they will need to apply for a low cost permit before dining. they will also be required to wash their hands, and brush their teeth before dining.

They are pleased that you recognise the artistic dissemination of empty bins in colourful patterns and arrangements. the skilful random returns to the wrong bin users will keep you all gainfully employed and occupied for hours as you try to find your own bin around the neighbourhood. it is building useful bonds and a spirit of community.

Posted by bryanharper: Well said Ron. Our bin was left unemptied for four weeks as we seem to be the house at the start of one run and the end of another! So it is just down to luck if they bother. I contacted the council and did not even receive a reply.

The next time they miss the collection I shall deliver the food waste to the reception desk at Ebley Mill in a paper bag!
