I AGREE with previous correspondents that the SNJ should focus on local issues.
Fly tipping and litter, unfortunately, are local and national problems.
As regards fly tipping our local council responds well when informed by phone or email, despite the financial constraints.
Litter is everywhere and is more difficult to tackle but you do see teams litter-picking from time to time on public land.
One of the worst areas is Sainsbury’s top car park at Dudbridge.
It is private land but visited by vast hoards of litter-strewing members of the public.
Plastic bags, drinks bottles, de-icer spray cans, bits of plastic, traffic cone etc litter the walkway and the banks of the River Frome.
It is disgusting.
I feel sorry for the dippers that frequent that part of the Frome.
It also reminds us why vigilance is needed when supermarkets wish to build near environmental sensitive areas – can they be trusted with stewardship?
