REFERRING to the recent feature about the town of Stonehouse in this newspaper – it’s questionable.
The day before the newspaper with the feature hit the streets, Stonehouse lost its only greengrocers, after 11 years.
Prior to that one of the popular eateries disappeared.
Barclay’s Bank had already closed, then HSBC closed its branch.
Now, as I write, Lloyds Bank Branch gets the chop.
One of the staff told me, when I discussed the executive short sightedness of their decision, that they had ignored completely the staff, (Stonehouse, Stroud and Nailsworth).
This at a time when major development is to take place to the immediate west of Stonehouse.
