WHAT a lovely sound to hear Holloways hooter again, after so many years.
I live in Uplands still, and when we were young our lives revolved round the hooters.
Five to eight and eight o’clock - five to one and one o’clock. Well done Faye Bassett (Woodward) and Mark Cummings.
My sister Valerie Hodges was walking home from work in Stroud one evening, and what did she see! A lady frantically waving out of Holloways factory window. She was a cleaner and had got locked in!
Valerie said I will tell Mr Bassett to come and let you out, she said Mr Bassett is not on the phone.
But we lived near the Bassett family, so all was well a happy ending.
