AS you know, Amey Construction act as an agency for the county council nowadays.
They are proposing to deal with a long standing land drainage problem outside my house in Kingscourt Lane, Rodborough.
Sadly, I am of the view that the work they plan to undertake here - is flawed.
A lot of Gloucestershire council taxpayers money is to be wasted on this particular project, if Amey go ahead with the work as they plan to do now.
It is a fact that there was a significant amount of money spent on building a large soakaway in the gardens of the properties built alongside me 20 years ago.
The Highways Engineer responsible for supervising this particular contract (at that time) is still alive and well.
He is of the view that the Amey plan is seriously flawed and is not justified in any way at all.
In short a complete waste of taxpayers’ money!
On the contrary, all that needs to be addressed is a re-alignment of the road levels to ensure that the tarmac surface is high enough to allow the rain water to flood more effectively into the drains: rather than people’s houses here.
In this way, the soakaway will be allowed to do its work, something which has never/ever happened.
Needless to say, I have been in touch with Gloucestershire Highways and Rodborough Parish Council on this topic for several weeks now, but have not had a satisfactory reply from any one.
Nobody has thought it sensible to speak with Roy Churchill on the subject, although he is very willing to offer his advice on the history of it all and what needs to be done now.
