IT BEGGARS belief that SDC have ‘shot down’ plans for a retail park at Ryeford.
This seems to be based on the likely effect on Merrywalks.
But the area desperately needs quality shops like M&S.
Our councillors see fit to lose that opportunity in order to prop up a desolate 1970s shopping ‘mall’.
They talk about Brunsdons Yard being in an ‘elevated position’ (seriously?) and cars and textures creating ‘a harsh urban experience’.
What planet are they on?
Just look at Cirencester’s development near Lidl - it works very well.
The whole area is crying out for better retail experience.
Unless something is done soon this town will die on its feet, there are much better facilities to be had at other towns close by.
