CONGRATULATIONS to David Drew on his election to Parliament and commiserations to Neil Carmichael.

I would like to thank Mr Carmichael for the excellent support he gave to Stroud in Europe and indeed to the Remain campaign in general.

The Remain vote in Stroud was 54.6 per cent in a turnout of 80 per cent.

I was pleased to hear at one of the hustings that Mr Drew voted Remain despite describing himself as an old style Eurosceptic.
